HB 2114 – Rent Control Bill || DEAD for 2024 Session

OPPOSE: HB 2114

Senate Ways and Means Committee
February 26, 2024
Time: 10:00 a.m.

  • Documents: Washington State Legislature
Great news! HB 2114, rent control, legislation is most likely DEAD for the 2024 Legislative Session. This was the last rent control bill that was still alive this session.

Today at 5:00 p.m. was the deadline for bills to move out of the opposite house committees reports from House Fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation Committees.

HB 2114 was scheduled for Executive Session in the Senate Ways & Means Committee today, Monday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m., however, the bill was taken off the calendar and no action was taken.

Legislators still have ways of reviving bills even after deadlines, but the bill’s lack to move out of Ways and Means is a strong indicator that it won’t move forward this year. Senate Ways & Means Committee Chair Sen. June Robinson, (D-38), said the bill did not have enough votes to pass the committee.
